Kenichi Okazaki (岡崎堅一 Okazaki Ken'ichi), is Shin step-father, he's a man who dedicates his life to work. Besides Shin, he also has an older son. Although he’s not Shin’s biological father, he took him in as his own son, even though he doesn’t feel love for him.

- The name Kenichi means ''hard, firm, solid'' (堅) (ken) and ''one, alone'' (一) (ichi).
- Kenichi's surname Okazaki means ''hill'' (岡) (oka) and ''promontory'' (崎) (zaki).
- ↑ In NANA 7.8 it's mentioned that Shin's step-father full name is Kenichi Okazaki.
